Spring starts late august and lasts till end of November. It is a beautiful time to be in South Africa, the animals are vibrant with life, the plants, landscapes and colours constantly changing. The people Aswell, this country and every living being in it (and believe me that is a massive amount) are embracing the beginning of change withs spring brings with it.
New beginnings.
This winter was especially long and extremely wet, it was arguably the wettest winter in more than 40 years.
Because of this we had some massive floodings multiple times and, human suffering. Water the source of all live can be very destructive when it comes all at ones. But South Africa is such a resilient country and the people always make a plan and find a way.
Being in spring and going in to summer later on we will see the benefits of all this rainfall, I am witnessing it as I am writing this blog. The greenery, plants, birdlife, all life in general, will blossom exceptionally this year! Spring is a time off change and I can feel it, taste it, smell it all around. Change in everything around me is inevitable, and it is extremely beautiful and uplifting. No matter what happens life always gives us new beginnings.
No better feeling than Africa.
This is why spring time in south Africa is so special, a country with a floral kingdom beyond compare to any other country in the world has such an abundance of new life that you can feel its energy the minute you enter it! It is a feeling I cannot explain, you have to experience it for yourself, and if you ever come you will, trust me on that! South Africa has over more than 900 bird species alone, and they are all bursting with life and energy as nature starts to awaking under the African sun. the water from this winter and the spring sun will bring so much life that South Africa actually moves around you and it is amazing to be in the centre of all that new life.
If people talk about heaven on earth, I think this is it!
The essence of nature changing and changing yourself.
Being in South Africa and its beautiful nature does something to you. It does so all year round, but in spring it has that certain extra. It makes you feel anything is possible, and life always finds a way. For me it makes me feel small and very humble, and I realise that I must enjoy this thing we call life. we are so busy these days that we do not see all the changes happening around us all the time, and before you know it the kids have grown up and are out of the house. And you are left wondering where that time went.
As I am sitting in my garden watching the birds, the gecko and chameleon on the wall, the mountains in the background, I realise South Africa changes me for the better. And it will change you to, I promise.
Final words, the base of all life.
There is only one base for all life and it is mother earth. Nature as we know it, and we are living in it not on it!
If you want to reconnect, fill your soul, find your purpose, know what’s important! Embrace the change, look around you at all life, big and small and realise that everything is connected and what better place to do so than South Africa. You will see a beauty, a magnificent spectacle;
you will find heaven on earth is;
